Carol Kennedy, an award winning photographer living and working in Cape Breton, is best known for her black and white and hand-coloured photographs. Her photographs have been exhibited over the past twenty five years in Canada, the U.S, England and Switzerland in both group and solo exhibitions, and are included in the collections of the Art Galleries of Nova Scotia and Ontario, the Canada Council Art Bank, The National Film Board, the Jane Corkin Gallery and many private collections. Her photographic portraits of Nova Scotia performing artists such as Rita McNeil, the Rankins, Natalie MacMaster, Rawlins Cross, Jest in Time Theatre, Bette MacDonald are well known. The receipient of numerous awards and commissions, Kennedy received a Juno Nomination for CD/Cassette photography in 1997, and in 1998, she was awarded the East Coast Music Award for CD/Cassette Graphic Design. The artist and her husband, artist Gordon Kennedy have a gallery and working forge on the Cabot Trail in Tarbot, called "Iron Art & Photographs. Until November 26th, 1998, there is an exhibit of her work at UCCB Art Gallery, a retrospective entitled: 28 Years with a Camera. |
